This cover: will it fit your sofa cushion?

Suitable for
Seat cushions 50 to 90 cm wide (front to back) and 50 to 200 cm long (side to side), back cushions 30 to 65 cm wide and 60 to 95 cm long

Fitting in 3 steps

About a minute per cushion, no tools

  1. Lift out the cushion

Take the seat or back cushion out of its place and unfold the cover: the elastic is at the four corners, just like a fitted sheet.

  2. Start with two corners

Hook two opposite corners, then stretch the cover over the other two. The fabric pulls taut over the cushion.

  3. Put it back

Smooth it out and put the cushion back. Allow one cover per cushion: a 2-seater sofa with two seat cushions and two back cushions needs four.

Step 1 of 3

Measure the width and length of each cushion before you order; if you're between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Product details

Description

Light doesn't sit on velvet, it sinks in

A velvet sofa changes a room. The colour looks deeper, and it shifts with the angle and the time of day — something a flat fabric never does.

It's the cushions you cover, not the sofa. Each cover goes on one cushion at a time, like a fitted sheet on a mattress, and comes off just as quickly for washing. Your sofa's frame stays as it is; only the surface changes.

The velvet is stretchy: it stretches both ways and pulls taut over the cushion. Lift the cushion, slip the cover on, put the cushion back. One minute per cushion, no tools.

Choosing the right size: measure before you order

It's the one step where a mistake means a return. Get out a tape measure and take two measurements of one cushion, lying flat, with its current cover removed: its width from front to back (the first figure in our sizes), then its length from side to side (the second figure).

Nine sizes, sorted by front-to-back width first:

Cushions up to 65 cm from front to back

  • 50-65 × 50-70 cm, a square cushion
  • 50-65 × 100-125 cm, a one-piece 2-seater cushion
  • 50-65 × 150-185 cm, a one-piece 3-seater cushion

Cushions 70 to 90 cm from front to back

  • 70-90 × 65-95 cm
  • 70-90 × 95-135 cm
  • 70-90 × 135-165 cm
  • 70-90 × 165-200 cm

Back cushions

  • 30-45 × 60-80 cm
  • 50-65 × 70-95 cm

The price depends only on the size and is shown in the selector. The colour you choose never changes it.

If your measurements fall between two sizes, choose the larger one: the fabric stretches, but only so far.

Two back cushion sizes, not just one: back cushions vary in size from sofa to sofa. Measure them the same way as the seats.

These sizes are exactly the same as our fleece range — it's the only one you can compare without measuring again. Our stretch and water-repellent covers come in different sizes.

How many you need

One cover fits one cushion. A 3-seater sofa whose seat is made of three separate cushions needs three covers, and three more if you want to cover the back cushions too.

Count your cushions before you order, not your seats: it isn't always the same number.

On orders of £85 or more, delivery is free, plus two free cushion covers: your basket lets you choose them.

Care

Machine washable at 30°C. Take the cover off, wash it, put it back on. The fabric gets its shape back.

The eight colours

Slate grey, Graphite grey, Cocoa, Honey, Peacock blue, Bottle green, Amber, Sapphire blue.

Greys come first in the selector. On velvet, a dark colour gains depth where it would look flat on a matt fabric — which is why the shades in this range are bold.

Sizing and fitting

This isn’t a sofa cover: each seat or back cushion gets its own, slipped on like a fitted sheet. Allow one cover per cushion — a 2-seater sofa with two seat cushions and two back cushions needs four, a 3-seater needs six.

How to measure

  • Lay the cushion flat, with its current cover removed if needed.
  • Measure the cushion from front to back (the width on our size chart), then from side to side (the length).
  • Choose the size that covers both; if your measurements fall right between two sizes, choose the larger one. The measurements of each size are shown in the size selector.

Fitting

  • Lift the cushion, hook the cover over two opposite corners, stretch it over the other two, smooth it out and put the cushion back. About a minute per cushion, no tools.

Fitting guide

Care

Velvet is all about its pile: too much heat or a tumble dryer crushes it, and the colour looks stained when the pile is only flattened. Brushing in the direction of the pile lifts it back up.

Day to day

  • Blot any spill straight away, dabbing gently: velvet has no water-repellent finish.
  • Between washes, use a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner, always in the direction of the pile.

Washing

  • Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, with the cover turned inside out and a detergent for delicates, with no bleach or fabric conditioner.
  • Very gentle spin, 600 rpm maximum — or no spin at all.

Drying

  • Dry flat, in the open air, out of direct sunlight. Wait until it’s dry before brushing it in the direction of the pile and putting it back on.

Avoid

  • Tumble dryer, ironing the pile (even on a low heat), bleach, rubbing it dry, putting it back on while it’s still wet.

Care guide

The cushion covers are washed one at a time: the cycle is shorter, and the rest of the sofa stays covered.

Your questions about this product

What if my cushion isn’t one of the sizes?

Measure it flat, with its current cover off: the width from front to back, then the length from side to side, and choose the size that covers both. If your measurements fall right between two sizes, take the larger. If your cushion is far from all the sizes on the page, email its measurements to contact@thesofacoverhouse.com: we’ll tell you if one of them will work.

How many covers do I need?

One per seat cushion and back cushion: count your cushions. A 2-seater sofa with two seat cushions and two back cushions takes four, a 3-seater six. The rest of the sofa keeps its own fabric.

My cushions are fixed — will it work?

EasyDrap™ needs removable cushions: the cover tucks underneath like a fitted sheet. If your cushions are fixed or buttoned, a full sofa cover is the right answer.

Does pet hair cling to velvet?

Short-pile velvet brushes clean: a sweep of the hand or a brush in the direction of the pile removes it, and the cover goes in the machine at 30°C. Velvet does not repel liquids: wipe up any spill straight away.

Will the velvet mark where people sit?

The pile flattens under weight and lifts again with a brush: it isn’t a stain. Wash at 30°C and air dry — never tumble dry, as it crushes the pile.

Can I return it if I don’t like it?

Yes: you have a 30-day money-back guarantee from delivery, even if you simply change your mind. Email us at contact@thesofacoverhouse.com with your order number: we reply with the return address and instructions. Return postage is paid by you, and we refund you within 24 hours of receiving the return, to your original payment method.
