About 2 minutes, no tools

Close the click-clack and find the label
Fit the cover in the sofa position, with the bed folded up. A label sewn into the cover shows which way it goes on: find it before you start. The cover looks small when you unpack it: that's normal, it stretches.
Pull the cover over the sofa bed
Place it over the back, then pull the fabric over the seat and the sides, until the click-clack is fully covered. Tuck the excess into the central fold, between the seat and the back.
Fit the strap
Once the click-clack is covered, fit the strap underneath the base.
Smooth, then open it once
Smooth the fabric by hand, from the centre to the edges. Then unfold the click-clack once to check that nothing gets in the way of the movement.

To wash it, take it off the same way, with the click-clack closed.

Description

Crushed velvet that catches the light

This isn't a matt short-pile velvet: it's a crushed velvet, with a marbled surface that catches the light and changes with it. On a click-clack, often the plainest piece of furniture in the room, it's what turns a spare bed into a sofa you're happy to show off.

The cover wraps the click-clack in one piece, seat and back, and pulls taut by itself: the velvet is backed with a stretch knit that stretches and follows the fold.

Choosing the right size: measure before you order

It's the one step where a mistake means a return. With the click-clack folded up in sofa position, measure its length from one end of the seat to the other, arms excluded — a click-clack usually doesn't have any.

S, for a length of 150 to 190 cm (60-74 in)
L, for a length of 190 to 210 cm (75-82 in)

The price depends only on the size and is shown in the selector. The colour you choose never changes it.

If your measurement is exactly 190 cm, choose the L: the fabric stretches, but only so far.

Care

Machine washable at 30°C, inside out. Air dry, no ironing: the velvet gets its texture back as it dries.

Sizing and fitting

A click-clack or fold-out sofa bed opens out: a cover that’s too long at the sides, or caught at the back, gets in the way of the mechanism. This one is cut short at the sides and left open at the back, where the backrest tilts.

How to measure

With the sofa bed closed, measure from one edge to the other, on the outside. If you’re between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Fitting

Slip it on with the sofa bed closed, and tuck the excess into the fold in the middle. Then open it once to check that nothing gets in the way. No tools, about 2 minutes.

Fitting guide

Care

Velvet is all about its pile: too much heat or a tumble dryer crushes it, and the colour looks stained when the pile is only flattened. Brushing in the direction of the pile lifts it back up.

Day to day

Blot any spill straight away, dabbing gently: velvet has no water-repellent finish.
Between washes, use a soft brush or the brush attachment of your vacuum cleaner, always in the direction of the pile.

Washing

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, with the cover turned inside out and a detergent for delicates, with no bleach or fabric conditioner.
Very gentle spin, 600 rpm maximum — or no spin at all.

Drying

Dry flat, in the open air, out of direct sunlight. Wait until it’s dry before brushing it in the direction of the pile and putting it back on.

Avoid

Tumble dryer, ironing the pile (even on a low heat), bleach, rubbing it dry, putting it back on while it’s still wet.

Can I open the click-clack without removing the cover?

Yes, on most mechanisms, as long as you choose the right size: S for 150 to 190 cm, L for 190 to 210 cm, measured with the sofa bed closed. The cover stays short at the sides and open at the back, so it follows the folding.

How do I choose between S and L?

With the click-clack closed, measure the length of the seat from one edge to the other. Up to 190 cm: S. From 190 to 210 cm: L. Exactly 190 cm: take the L — the fabric stretches, but it can’t get any longer.

Will it fit a fold-out sofa bed or another sofa bed?

Yes: click-clack, fold-out and other sofa beds without arms, 150 to 210 cm long, in two sizes.

Does pet hair cling to velvet?

Velvet brushes clean: a sweep of the hand or a brush in the direction of the pile removes it, and the cover goes in the machine at 30°C. Velvet does not repel liquids: wipe up any spill straight away.

Will the velvet mark where people sit?

The pile flattens under weight and lifts again with a brush: it isn’t a stain. Wash at 30°C and air dry — never tumble dry, as it crushes the pile.
