Start with the back
Place the cover over the top of the chair back, right side facing you. The stretch fabric follows the shape.
Bring it down the back
Slide the cover down until the whole back is covered, without forcing: it stretches.
Cover the seat and fasten
Pull the bottom of the cover over the seat, smooth from the centre to the edges, then fasten the elastic under the seat. One cover per chair.

Description

A dining chair takes everything: sauce, spilt drinks, children's hands. This cover fits over it in one piece, back and seat, in a textured jacquard with a water-repellent treatment: liquids bead on the surface, so you have time to wipe them with a cloth.

The knit is thick and firm, with a small checked texture that makes the chair's flaws less visible and adds depth to a dining room. It stretches both ways and pulls taut by itself: slip it over the back, pull it down over the seat and fasten the elastic under the seat. Thirty seconds per chair.

It's also an easy way to bring odd chairs together: one cover for all of them, and they become a set.

Check before you order

One size, for dining, kitchen and desk chairs without arms: a back 45 to 60 cm high and 40 to 50 cm wide, a seat of 40 to 50 cm, 2 to 10 cm thick. Measure the back from the top down to the seat, then its width, and the seat from edge to edge. It won't fit a chair with arms, a garden chair or a bar stool. Care

Machine washable at 30°C. Air dry, no ironing. Take the cover off, wash it, put it back on.

Fitting

Slip it over the back from the top, pull it down to the seat, smooth it from the centre outwards and secure the elastic under the seat. About 30 seconds, no tools. On a smooth chair (metal, plastic), pull the elastic nice and tight.

Fitting guide

Care

The water-repellent finish gives you time, it doesn’t seal the fabric: liquids bead on the surface, you blot them up, and nothing sets in. Fabric conditioner clogs the finish and cancels it out, and so does the heat of a tumble dryer.

Day to day

Blot while the liquid is still on the surface. Dab, never rub: rubbing pushes the liquid between the threads.
Vacuum now and then in the direction of the weave; a soft brush cleans the texture.
If a spill has been left to sit, a full wash will freshen the fabric — the water-repellent finish can’t prevent a stain that’s left too long.

Washing

Turn the cover inside out to protect the texture.
Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle with a gentle liquid detergent, with no fabric conditioner or bleach.
Gentle spin, 800 rpm maximum.

Drying

Dry flat or on a clothes airer, in the open air. Put the cover back on while it’s still slightly damp so it tightens back up; the water-repellent finish reactivates as it dries.

Avoid

Fabric conditioner, tumble dryer, bleach, rubbing, a hot iron on the right side.

Will it fit my chairs?

How does it attach to the chair?

The fabric stretches over the back and seat, and elastic bands go under the seat. If it moves with use, it takes a second to put it back. It comes off just as quickly for washing.

Water-repellent or faux leather: which should I choose?

Water-repellent: liquid beads on the surface and you have time to mop it up; a puddle left for a long time will eventually soak through. Faux leather has a sealed surface: nothing gets through, and it wipes clean with a sponge. For meals and drinks, water-repellent is enough; for a pet or young children, take a look at the faux leather dining chair cover.

Does the water-repellent finish last through washing?
