About 2 minutes, no tools

Close the click-clack and find the label
Fit the cover in the sofa position, with the bed folded up. A label sewn into the cover shows which way it goes on: find it before you start. The cover looks small when you unpack it: that's normal, it stretches.
Pull the cover over the sofa bed
Place it over the back, then pull the fabric over the seat and the sides, until the click-clack is fully covered. Tuck the excess into the central fold, between the seat and the back.
Fit the strap
Once the click-clack is covered, fit the strap underneath the base.
Smooth, then open it once
Smooth the fabric by hand, from the centre to the edges. Then unfold the click-clack once to check that nothing gets in the way of the movement.

To wash it, take it off the same way, with the click-clack closed.

Description

A click-clack with a fresh face in two minutes

The click-clack is the piece of furniture you open and close every day, and its fabric is the first to show it. This cover wraps it in one piece, seat and back, and pulls taut by itself: the fabric contains 5% elastane, so it stretches both ways.

You fit it with the click-clack folded, and take it off the same way for washing. It folds and unfolds with it.

Fourteen colours, seven plain and seven patterned. Plains for a calm living room, patterns for a click-clack that becomes the piece everyone notices.

Choosing the right size: measure before you order

It's the one step where a mistake means a return. With the click-clack folded up in sofa position, measure its length from one end of the seat to the other, arms excluded — a click-clack usually doesn't have any.

S, for a length of 150 to 190 cm (60-74 in)
L, for a length of 190 to 210 cm (75-82 in)

The price depends only on the size and is shown in the selector. The colour you choose never changes it.

If your measurement is exactly 190 cm, choose the L: the fabric stretches, but only so far.

How many you need

One cover fits a whole click-clack, seat and back in one piece. You only need one.

Care

Machine washable at 30°C. Take the cover off, wash it, put it back on. The fabric gets its shape back.

Sizing and fitting

A click-clack or fold-out sofa bed opens out: a cover that’s too long at the sides, or caught at the back, gets in the way of the mechanism. This one is cut short at the sides and left open at the back, where the backrest tilts.

How to measure

With the sofa bed closed, measure from one edge to the other, on the outside. If you’re between two sizes, choose the larger one.

Fitting

Slip it on with the sofa bed closed, and tuck the excess into the fold in the middle. Then open it once to check that nothing gets in the way. No tools, about 2 minutes.

Care

What matters here is the stretch of the knit. Too much heat, fabric conditioner or the tumble dryer will loosen it, and the cover ends up baggy on your furniture.

Day to day

Blot a fresh stain from the edge towards the centre with a damp cloth, without rubbing. There’s no need to take the cover off for a one-off spill.

Washing

Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, with no bleach or fabric conditioner.
Wash it on its own if it’s a sofa cover: it needs room to rinse properly.

Drying

Air dry on a clothes airer. Put it back on while it’s still slightly damp: it tightens up by itself as it finishes drying.

Avoid

Tumble dryer, radiator, fabric conditioner, bleach.

Can I open the click-clack without removing the cover?

Yes, on most mechanisms, as long as you choose the right size: S for 150 to 190 cm, L for 190 to 210 cm, measured with the sofa bed closed. The cover stays short at the sides and open at the back, so it follows the folding.

How do I choose between S and L?

With the click-clack closed, measure the length of the seat from one edge to the other. Up to 190 cm: S. From 190 to 210 cm: L. Exactly 190 cm: take the L — the fabric stretches, but it can’t get any longer.

Will it fit a fold-out sofa bed or another sofa bed?

Yes: click-clack, fold-out and other sofa beds without arms, 150 to 210 cm long, in two sizes.

Does it protect against liquids?

No: stretch fabric is not a barrier. A spilt glass mops up quickly and the cover goes in the machine at 30°C. If liquids are your concern, choose our water-repellent click-clack sofa bed cover, or the faux leather one: nothing gets through.

Will the colour match the photo?

Our photos are studio shots of our fabric, not computer-generated images. A screen can alter a shade slightly: if in doubt, email us at contact@thesofacoverhouse.com and ask for a daylight photo of the colour.
