Check it will fit your chairs

This cover is made for dining, kitchen and desk chairs without arms. It covers a back 45 to 60 cm high and 40 to 50 cm wide, and a seat of 40 to 50 cm, 2 to 10 cm thick. Measure the back from the top down to the seat, then its width, and the seat from edge to edge.

What it won't fit, so you know before you order:

• chairs with arms: the cover can't go round them
• garden chairs
• bar stools, too tall and too narrow.

How many you need

Most dining rooms have four or six. From six covers, your order reaches £85: delivery is free, plus two free cushion covers, which your basket lets you choose.

Each cover fits one chair. You choose the quantity when you add to your basket.

Care

Machine washable at 30°C. Take it off, wash it, put it back on. Air dry. Folded, it fits in a drawer.

One size, for a dining, kitchen or office chair without arms: straight or slightly curved back, square or slightly rounded seat.

It fits if your chair has

• Back: 45 to 60 cm high, 40 to 50 cm wide
• Seat: 40 to 50 cm each side, 2 to 10 cm thick

Outside these measurements, or if the chair has arms, it’s not the right shape of cover.

Fitting

• Slip it over the back from the top, pull it down to the seat, smooth it from the centre outwards and secure the elastic under the seat. About 30 seconds, no tools. On a smooth chair (metal, plastic), pull the elastic nice and tight.

Fitting guide

What matters here is the stretch of the knit. Too much heat, fabric conditioner or the tumble dryer will loosen it, and the cover ends up baggy on your furniture.

Day to day

• Blot a fresh stain from the edge towards the centre with a damp cloth, without rubbing. There’s no need to take the cover off for a one-off spill.

Washing

• Machine wash at 30°C on a delicate cycle, with no bleach or fabric conditioner.
• Wash it on its own if it’s a sofa cover: it needs room to rinse properly.

Drying

• Air dry on a clothes airer. Put it back on while it’s still slightly damp: it tightens up by itself as it finishes drying.

Avoid

• Tumble dryer, radiator, fabric conditioner, bleach.
